1. General information
The main goal of this subject is to prepare the future teacher to teach the communicative and linguistic skills of oral and written language in Early Childhood Education . Students will learn the theoretical foundationon approaches and models, legislative regulations and develop competencies for educational planning.
These approaches and goals are aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda of United Nations (https://www.un.org/sustainabledevelopment/es/), in such a way that the acquisition of the learning results of the subject provides training and competence to contribute to some extent to their achievement. They are the following : Goal 3, Goal 4, Goal 5, Goal 8, Goal 9, Goal 10, Goal 11, Goal 16, Goal 17.
2. Learning results
- Identify and understand the theoretical concepts necessary to approach linguistic education of Spanish as a first language from a textual and communicative perspective.
- Analyze and apply educational legislation and the official curriculum in the design of didactic activities and sequences.
- Plan, design, organize and develop didactic sequences, tasks and activities for the development of the competences and basic knowledge of Spanish at this stage.
- Analyze the specific difficulties posed by the learning of communicative and linguistic skills of oral and written languagefor pre-school students and, consequently, evaluate and select the most relevant strategies in the teaching-learning process.
- Use appropriate and varied resources to design the activities of the Spanish language subject: audiovisual media, texts of different genres (oral, written, literary, etc.), dramatization techniques and other strategies.
3. Syllabus
Unit 1. Epistemological bases of the teaching of oral and written language in E. Infantil. Infant Education.
Unit 2. Legal framework and curriculum of Spanish language in Early Childhood Education.
Unit 3. Didactics of oral communication and didactic strategies related to different discourses. Difficulties in the teaching and learning. Guidelines for evaluation.
Unit 4. Didactics of written communication: initiation to reading and writing. Difficulties in teaching and learning. Guidelines for evaluation.
4. Academic activities
Lectures: sessions with the teacher in which the course syllabus will be explained: 30 hours
Practical classes: sessions of analysis of the curriculum of the area, reading and exposition of documentation, debates on articles, design of activities for the application of concepts and approaches: 30 hours
Directed work: 9 hours
Individual study: 75 hours
Assessment tests. 6 hours
5. Assessment system
The subject is inserted in the global evaluation modality through the following activities:
1. Final individual written test of theoretical-practical character (60% of the grade, minimum 5 out of 10) that will be carried out in official calls.
The evaluation criteria are: mastery of the contents, use of terminology, justification of arguments and capacity for reflection and written communication.
2. Completion of internships and compulsory assignments or monographic work (40% of the grade, minimum 5 out of 10).
Several assignments will be carried out during the semester or, if necessary, a theoretical-practical monographic work. The following aspects will be evaluated:
- Theoretical foundation in the design of activities.
- Argumentative, analytical and critical capacity of articles, legislation, teaching materials, etc.
- Expository and oral communication skills.
- Coherence, correctness and organization in written communication.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Bibliography and references.
These activities will be required in ALL the calls of the subject (including the 5th and 6th).
If a student has not passed any of these activities, the grade will be the one obtained in the failed test.
In any case, as part of the evaluation, the teacher may request, at random, the oral defense of the test or assignment submitted in writing, for the verification of the grade.
Finally, it must be taken into account that the Regulations of the Rules of Coexistence of the University of Zaragoza will be applicable to irregularities committed in the evaluation tests through academic fraud, as well as the application of article 30 of the Regulations of the Rules of Evaluation of Learning in relation to irregular practices other than academic fraud.
